Volunteer State Health Plan Makes "America's Best Health Plans" List

Volunteer State Health Plan (VSHP) has earned the 36^th and 43^rd national spots in the U.S. News & World Report/NCQA America’s Best Health Plan 2007 rankings for Medicaid plans. In Tennessee, VSHP is among the top three performing plans.

Ranked 36 out of 93 plans, VSHP’s BlueCare plan scored 81.2 out of 100 possible points. Its TennCareSelect plan scored 79.1 points, placing it 43^rd on the list. BlueCare and TennCareSelect serve more than 300,000 members of TennCare, Tennessee’s expanded Medicaid program.

“We take pride in the services we provide to our health plan members,” said Sonya Nelson, CEO of VSHP. “These rankings reflect our dedicated efforts to provide quality and value to their health care needs.”

According to the nonprofit National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), which compiles the annual list for U.S. News, the rankings serve as a resource for members to make informed decisions.

The health plan rankings are based on clinical quality and member satisfaction.
